Custom Home Bar and Entertainment Area

When friends come into town, you might take them to the swankiest bar in town for a nice drink before or after dinner. You want them to have a great experience and a full bar with the best cocktails to enjoy their time visiting. But what if you could have the stylish bar environment with plenty of entertainment in your own home? No need to drive into town, no need for a cab, and no drive back to the house before bed. We like to dream big when thinking about custom home designs and these bar design trends are great fuel for dreaming up your own perfectly designed in-home bar.

Built-in mini fridge

Don’t skimp on the details. When planning your in-home bar, make sure you plan space for everything you could want. Love mixing up margaritas for relaxing by the pool? Make sure you build-in space for small appliances under or near your home bar. Do you make the best Manhattan in town? Create shelving and drawers in your design to house all of the things you need to blow your guests away with your mixology skills. Talk to your design consultant about what you want to be able to do in your bar, and your design consultant can help you plan the space you need to make it functional and fabulous.

Wine Cellar

Cocktails aren’t for everyone, but that doesn’t mean an in-home bar isn’t for you. If you prefer wine, you can add a wine cellar to your design to hold all of your favorite or valuable wines. Not only is it functional, but it also creates a dramatic focal point for the room. Think rich wood, beautiful stone detail, and your very own collection to delight guests. A wine cellar pairs well with a bar area to sip, talk and connect with friends and family. Plan your space with a designer to capture the feel and mood of the room to enjoy for years to come.

Entertainment

If you’re the type of person who loves going out to shoot some pool or compete in a round of darts, entertainment space is a must. The right design can create an up-scale and grown-up game room to welcome out of town guests or host the big game. Design with extra space in mind to add extra seating, a big screen TV, or table games like pool or shuffleboard. If you really want to step up your entertainment space game, think about an expansive space with your favorite entertainment activities, theater seating, and indoor pool. This truly is the ultimate adult fun room, perfect for hosting parties and wowing friends and family.

Add Personality

One of our favorite things about the in-home bar is the opportunity to bring plenty of personality into space. Sports fanatic? Great! Show your support in your home bar with memorabilia and branded details to watch every game like a real fan. Have a passion for old cars? Perfect. Think about how you could design the bar to look like an old car or auto shop with the old school signage and tools to bring the look all together. The bar is one place in the home where your personal style can take over. This space should be comfortable, fun, and full of everything you love.

Open Access to the Outdoors

Our very favorite trend for in-home bars is the indoor-outdoor design many people in warm climates are building into their custom homes. While we don’t have the best weather conditions throughout the year here in Indiana, there are plenty of opportunities to achieve this look without freezing during the winter. Indoor-outdoor bar areas are perfect for entertaining around the pool in the summer and enjoying fall evenings with crisp cold air and a fire crackling outside. For the colder months, we suggest using large french doors, or a garage door style entrance to lift in the warm months, and close to keep the brisk weather out during the winter.

Our favorite thing about in-home bars is that this space is completely your own. No need to stay on the cutting edge of home decor here, this space can be anything and everything you want it to be.
