Now that warmer weather is here you, your family, and friends are probably spending more time outside. If you don’t have a fence you might be looking for ways to make the yard of your custom home feel more private. Here are four ways you can get more privacy in your yard without a fence.

Landscape

Landscaping is a wonderful and beautiful way to bring privacy to your yard without the use of a fence. Use tall shrubs around the perimeter of your hard to create a natural wall of seclusion. If you plant shrubs with thorns they can also serve to protect the premises from animals as well as rodents. Some suggested shrubs for your privacy plantings are  columnar evergreens,  Italian Cypress, and Arborvitae.

Potted Plants

Use potted plants that are elevated on casters for privacy on large decks. By elevating them on casters they can be easily moved for parties, cleaning, and deck repair. You can also reconfigure your potted plant wall to fit your needs.

Stone Walls

Stone walls are another great way to keep the natural elements visible while you still retain privacy in your yard. Stone walls are very aesthetically pleasing  and can be created in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes. You can place planters on top of the stone walls to raise the height even more.

Masonry

Consider using masonry walls for the ultimate privacy. You can include fountains and small pools of water to break up the look on the wall and keep the natural vibe going. Some landscape designers will use reclaimed iron fences in the design of the wall for variation and artistic flare.

Either way you go, by being creative with your choice to increase privacy you can add beauty and comfortability to your yard.
